“An exhibition was requested for the opening of Boris Godunow on October 6, 1991. I did not have the heart to discourage everyone’s faith by saying that this would be impossible in one month when a pencil had not even been put to paper, when I barely knew my way through the maze of the huge building much less how I would be able to work here. I simply did not think, but began to work, attending three operas for the first week, beginning three Parsifal paintings and drawings from Magic Flute, Turandot and the beginning of daily rehearsals of 2-3 hours a day of Boris Godunow. It was the most intense work period of my life” – Kathleen Barrett
